Friday Crafternoon- Tie Dye!

Spring is on it’s way- what better way to celebrate then creating a cool tie-dye t-shirt? Your local craft store will have a tie-dye kit that includes the dyes as well as instructions on how to do it. If you don’t have an old white t-shirt you want to use (or a white tank top, or any white cloth item) the store should also have plain white tees available. Go crazy!

Here is a really handy guide to making certain tie-dye designs:

Friday Crafternoon- Reusable Shopping Bags from an Old T-shirt

Going green is important, but it can also be fun- and reusable shopping bags are easy to find in a store, but wouldn’t you like to recycle something to make your own? Grab an old t-shirt and follow these instructions on how to make a bag that you can wash and reuse, while getting rid of some old tee’s you have lying around! Cutting slits in to your new bag is also smart for carrying around produce. Now sewing machine? No problem: lots of craft stores sell an iron-activated adhesive that is as secure as a needle and thread, or you could try sealing the seam with hot glue!

Friday Crafternoon- Tshirt Scarf

There are tons of great tutorials out there for easy and cheap ways to make a new scarf. Most of them involve t-shirts. This great site has 10 really simple tutorials for t-shirt scarves, some of which don’t even involve sewing anything.

Earlier in the Fall, the NBFPL teens tried a bunch of those tutorials, and everyone really loved the fringe scarf and the ruffle scarf!
